  4. I’ve been told by people who have filed it that it effects you for 7 years and then is “wiped” off your record. Requardless of how long it stays on your record, it’s up to you to fix/improve your credit. The only way to get good credit is to pay things on time and not be late. You’ll have to build your credit back, because bankrupcy is like starting over with a clean slate.You’ll probably have to pretty much start over by getting a small amout of credit like a small loan or credit card and pay it off. Just remeber not to make the same mistakes as before!
