I need to file a chapter 13 bankruptcy. I am being told that I can file it,and creditors can be paid through the thirteen, but I won’t be able to receive a discharge what does this mean?

  1. After the bankruptcy is closed the trustee needs to formally discharge the case. In a chapter 7 that takes place about 120 days after filing. In a chapter 13 it is 120 days after your plan is completed.

  2. Does the attorney mean that they don’t think the trustee will approve your 13 request, and therefore you won’t receive the discharge?

Or does the attorney mean that you just won’t recieve the discharge right away? I think the repayment plan length can vary based on your situation, but I have seen five year plans recently.
